Renae W Johnson

Renae is new this fall to KU and to her role as Academic Advisor in the Undergraduate Biology program.  She earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois and an M.S. from Syracuse University and is enjoying her time as a Jayhawk.  She is originally from Illinois, lived in St. Louis for several years, and moved to Jayhawk land six years ago.  She and her family of nine --including a goldendoodle named Louis and a sweet white rabbit with red eyes named Radish, her husband Clay, and five children -- are fans of the St. Louis Cardinals, Mexican and Thai food, exploring the area on hikes, and generally enjoying life in the Midwest.

She previously worked in various areas of college student services, including residence life, admissions, financial aid, career services, and advising; spent several years raising her kids full-time; and more recently served as a para to elementary and high school students.  She loves being back on a college campus.

When not at work, she enjoys a great cup of coffee with cream, sitting down with a good book (biographies and memoirs are especial favorites -- people fascinate​ her!), and helping her growing kids along their journeys into adulthood.  She loves her new work home in the Biology Program and was thrilled to discover that she is a Ravenclaw!
